Kerala Banana Chips
Since the past few years, it’s been almost like a norm with me and my friends that whosoever among us goes to Kerala, has to bring Kerala Banana Chips for all. These chips are famous in Kerala and are served along with most of the meals. They are fried in coconut oil for more authentic taste, however, you can use any oil of your choice. An ultimate delicious, munching snack, banana chips look amazingly inviting and one can never stop until the platter has no more of these. Earlier we had to wait for long for someone who could get these for us, however, now the wait is over as I have with me a recipe to make Kerala Banana Chips at home!
These chips have such a simple ingredient requirement and so fast and easy to prepare that anyone can make and enjoy them. It’s easy to store them for few weeks in an air tight container and serve them with evening tea or just grab them for munching any time of the day. You too can use this simple recipe to make Kerala Banana Chips.
All you need is
Raw Bananas – 2/3
Salt to taste (add it to 1/4 cup water)
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Oil for frying
Kerala Banana Chips Recipe
Peel bananas and dip them in turmeric water for 20-30 minutes.
Cut the banana in very thin slices and dry them over a kitchen towel or a tissue paper.
Heat the oil in a pan and fry the banana slices.
When they are half cooked, sprinkle with salt water and keep stirring.
When the chips are cooked (crisp), use a strainer to take them out draining excess oil and dry over a kitchen towel or a tissue paper.
Store in an air tight container and serve.
